Position Purpose

The Aviation Screening Officer’s (ASO) role performs duties relevant to the security of persons and property at the airport as defined by the contract with Canberra Airport and Individual Airlines in accordance with the appropriate legislation. The Aviation Security division encompasses the Domestic Terminals at Canberra Airport and special off-site contracts where screening services are required. Employees are expected to apply the highest levels of professionalism through our ‘Security with Service and Integrity’ model whilst operating within a service orientated work environment.  

Position Purpose

We are seeking suitable candidates to perform duties as Aviation Screening Officers.  Duties include: 

  • Customer Service 
  • Bag Loading 
  • X-Ray Monitoring 
  • Conducting frisk searches 
  • Physical Bag Searches 
  • Walk-thru metal detector monitoring. 
  • Explosive Trace Detection (ETD)  

Qualification

  • Security licence (1AC) Mandatory.
  • Frist Aid and CPR

CUSTOMER SERVICE experience is a MUST!  

 

Certis will cover the cost of your training, including a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI20118) and 40 hours On-the-Job Training. The Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (TSP) is a nationally recognized qualification and is a requirement for all Aviation Screening Officers and is completely FREE with our Registered Training Organization (RTO 45583).  

 

Note that to progress into a permanent position you are required to successfully complete the Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (TSP) and, at the end of your On-the-Job Training, be deemed capable of making independent screening decisions.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a Customer Service role 
  • Previous experience as a security guard is highly desirable but not essential
